About Keltek Brewery

It has been said that in less than a single decade Cornwall has gone from a “Real Ale desert” to a “Real Ale oasis”. True enough too!

The KELTEK BREWERY has been a driving force behind that revolution and those fortunate enough to holiday here will find a wealth of wonderful products from not only ourselves, but also from many other enthusiastic brewers.

Many would argue that it is the “micros” here in Cornwall who have successfully driven up the standard of ale in the region and producers large and small alike have either responded to the challenge or disappeared.

You’ve probably guessed, then, that KELTEK exists out of a passion for real ale.

We love brewing it and we love drinking it!

Keeping fit's not a problem either with the best part of half a ton of malt being pitched BY HAND by "BIG" Stu (although he does need a hand for the first 10 minutes these days due to advancing years) and carefully but rapidly mixed into the mash in just a few minutes at the beginning of each brew.

We also committed ourselves to cutting the prices of our beer when the EEC forced our beloved chancellor to reduce the duty rate for the small(?) folk like us! Having just increased our brewing capacity, (but not too big to get the full duty relief) we can now offer that advantage to more customers than before.

Watch out for more offer prices. We plan to have a “bargain beer” on offer at all times.

Above all watch out for the wierd & wonderful and don't be afraid to ask us if we will brew something special you would like. All we ask is that there is enough demand to sell a full brew on the small brewery (about 8 casks).

Introducing the Revolutionary Mikrocellar™ from Keltek

IF YOU WANT TO SERVE THE PERFECT PINT AT HOME THIS IS THE ANSWER TO YOUR DREAMS!

Perhaps even more importantly ‘though, consider the advantages to your small local club, hotel or even your favourite Indian Restaurant … there is now no excuse for not serving real ale and no excuse for the pint being anything other than perfect.

Here at Keltek we have studied the properties of the traditional polypin and taken advantage of its strength and durability which, unlike the “bag in box” type of system, allows ale to be conditioned pretty much as it would be in a cask.

When a polypin is attached to a hand pump via the connector system we have designed specially for the purpose, and a pint is drawn off, the container collapses - meaning that no air or bacteria get in to contaminate the ale and it is therefore possible to keep the beer for extended periods. Our tests, which have been conducted over more than 12 months, have convinced us that the quality and conditioning remain as good in the last pint as they were in the first pint.

We have also become convinced that the beer is better served this way than from a traditional cask as it doesn’t seem to deteriorate at all even after many days…ideal for small clubs which are only open a few days a week.

The longest we have kept a polypin attached to a hand pump so far is over 6 weeks! The only reason it has not been longer is that we keep drinking it!

The temperature programmable Mikrocellar™ provides a further enhancement in that it is as small as is physically possible (ext. dimensions in cm 38(W) x 58 (L) x 42 (H))to take a 20 litre (approx 36 pint) polypin and will nestle comfortably under a bar or (!!!very dangerous indeed for the waistline!!!) underneath the kitchen work surface. The Mikrocellar™ makes use of Peltier semiconductor cooling technology and an integral electronic controller can be set to keep the beer at whatever temperature you desire.

It’s designed to cool beer down slowly over a day or so and thus there are no sudden temperature changes to damage the character of the ale. Once at the desired temperature the Mikrocellar™ can be programmed to maintain the temperature to within a couple of degrees Celsius or better.

The Mikrocellar™ was designed and is produced in Cornwall.
